Frequently Asked Questions

FAQ (Frequently Asked Questions):

Q- When can I apply to PUM?

A- The recruitment process starts at the beginning of April.

In case you decide to send your application earlier, please be aware you will not receive an answer until the process actually begins.

Q- What is the deadline for sending applications?

A- The deadline is the 31st of July. Please note that applications should reach us before the deadline. The University takes no responsibility for the delays or losses caused by the postal carrier/ courier.

Q- Do you accept applications sent via email or fax?

A- No. All documents should be posted as originals or certified true copies.

Q- What is my chance of being accepted to PMU?

A- Unfortunately we are not able to evaluate whether one will be accepted or not (unless the candidate clearly does not meet the admission criteria). Upon submitting the application, each applicant enters a competition, and therefore each applicant is advised to ensure he/she submits all relevant documents, prove an education in the subjects required (biology, chemistry, physics). Ideally, chemistry + biology, or chemistry + physics, or chemistry + biology + physics should indicate that the subjects were finished (and passed) with an exam.

Q- Do you hold entrance exams?

A- No, each candidate is evaluated on the basis of quality of their High School diplomas/ obtained degrees.

Q- I have no education in chemistry. Can I be still accepted?

A- Unfortunately no. Chemistry is an obligatory subject and therefore each candidate is required to submit a certificate proving an education in this subject on a higher level than basic.

Q- I have an education in only one of the subjects required. What are my options?

A- In such case we advise the candidates to enroll for additional courses which may be offered in their area, so that the certification of completion of such course(s) can complement their High School diploma.

Q- Do you offer preparation courses for the applicants?

A- Regretfully not.

Q- Can someone guide me around the University and/ or may I join one of the classes to see how it looks like?

A- The main PMU Building (so-called Rectorate Building) on Rybacka is open for everyone. This is where the University’s administration is located. Some of the classes are held there. However, only staff and students are allowed to enter certain parts of the Rectorate, as well as hospitals and clinics where major part of the courses take place.

Q- Do you offer a 4-year MD Program?

A- No, and we do not plan to implement such program in a near future.

Q- Do you accept transfer students? What are the requirements?

A- Yes we do, until year III. The main condition of having one’s transfer application considered is to provide an original full transcript of grades, a photocopy of a passport, and a permission for a transfer from the Dean of the University one wishes to transfer from. Such application can be sent during the period between Spring (beginning of April) and Summer (end of June). Please note we do not accept students who have any of the exam(s) failed or credit(s) missing. Furthermore, an applicant wanting to transfer needs to be an active student of the University he/she wishes to transfer from, meaning we will not consider applicants who are no longer students of the given University.

Q- What are the fees and methods of payment?

A- Fees and payment.

Q- I can’t afford paying the tuition fee in full. What can I do?

A- In case you are unable to pay in full, you can apply to the Dean of your Faculty and ask for the permission to split your tuition fee in two installments. Such application should be submitted each academic year. In such case the deadlines of payments are as follows:

I installment: by the 1st of October (beginning of winter semester)

II installment: beginning of summer semester (as specified in Academic Calendar each year)

Q- Do you offer financial aid/ scholarships to foreign students?

A- Unfortunately not.

Q- What kind of diploma will I receive upon graduation from PUM?

A- Graduates of Faculty of Medicine (6-year MD Program) are awarded an MD Diploma with a title conferred Lekarz; graduates of Faculty of Medicine & Dentistry (5-year DMD Program) are awarded a DMD Diploma with a title conferred Lekarz-Dentysta.

Q- How many courses will I have to study each year?

A- Detailed curriculum and plan of studies for each year for both faculties can be found on our website.

Courses marked in bold indicate exams.

Q- Is it possible to stay in a Student Dormitory after September?

A- At the moment due to the large number of first year students (home and foreign), the University cannot guarantee an accommodation for each and every student who would like to live in Dormitory. All prospective students who have been accepted to the Program are advised to inform the Dean’s Office with a few months advance if they wish to be put on a list for the Dormitory. In such case as soon as there is a room vacant, the first student on the list is given the room.
