DIDACTICS AND EDUCATION:

Familly Medicine is teaching on VI year of Medical study (semester XI and XII) during 105 hours (35 hours of seminars and 75 hours of exercises)

Exercises have place in Familly Care Offices on Podgórna street nr 22/23 with familly doctors who are academical teachers from PAM, too. All patients are non hospitalisated.

AIM OF DIDACTICS:

Subject of exercises:

  1. Some psychological problems in familly care practices:
    - patients in good and bad health
  2. Doctor-patien relationships
  3. Patient and his familly : - familiar theraphy, - dependence on drugs
  4. Handicap as social problem
  5. Medical care on older patients
  6. Certification in Familly Medicine
  7. Patient with chronical diseases

EXERCISES PROGRAM OF FAMILLY MEDICINE:

  • Diagnostic and medical treatment the most often diseases of adult patients: hypertension, cardiac arest, IHD, infections of upper part of air passages, asthma, ventricular ulcer, hiper- and hipo-thyroidismus
  • Diagnosis and medical treatment the most often diseases of young population: disturbances of air passages, jaundice, growing up problems, infections, reasons of air passages infections, intestines diseases, urinary trucs infections, metabolic disturbances: galactosemia, fructosemia, mucoviscidosis, shock, hendical syndrom, fever, poisoning, scald
  • Special kind of work in Familly Medicine
  • Profilactics programmes im Familly Medicine
  • Doctor’s specification
  • Statement of nonposibility to work of patient
  • cooperation with pharmacy
  • Practical knowledge:
    • EKG, per rectum treatment, otoscopy, spirometry, etc
    • Medical care about patient at home
  • doctor’s home visiting
  • making blood tests
  • patint witrh chronical diseases (tumores)

During the exercises students follow uptheir earlier medical knowledge. They discus with patients themselves, try to diagnose and order medical treatment.

RULES OF STUDENTS EXERCISES:

  1. Clinical part of the Family Medicine is training abroad after having permission given by Vice – Dean for the English Program.
    Seminars are imparted at the Department of Family Medicine (Head: prof. Tadeusz Kozielec)
  2. After attending all the classes and having seminars the Department students may sit the final test.
  3. Students receive their own exercise card with subjects which they should learn during clinical part of training abroad. All of subjects should be confirm after finish clinical part of exercises.
    After finishing the classes and passing the test, students have their credit books filled.
  4. After attending all the classes and having seminars the Department students may sit the final test.
    Students who didn’t sit the test with their own group may do it with another group until the end of the semester (but not later than before the closest learning period);
  5. Individual course students are obliged to set the dates of classes in the beginning of the academic year until 31st of October.
  6. Working out the classes skipped due to an excused absence takes place with another group, after setting the date with the Department Manager.
  7. Remaining rules of the Department classes schedule are contained in Pomeranian Medical University Studies Regulations.

SCIENTIFICALLY ACTIVITY:

  1. Estimating of teaching results of students in Familly Medicine. Testing of some tecnic of teaching students in Familly Medicine
  2. Problems of ambulatory medicine. Aims of Familly Medicine
  3. Estimating of some bioelements and ionised magnesium in growing up population and in adults in good health and with some diseases. The role of magnesium supplementation in toxic metal reduction in human bodies.
  4. Epidemiological examinations on population’s health. Epidemiological examinations on hipothyreosis children from Szczecin, the role of Familly Doctor in profilactic of psychosocial diseases. Examinations on patients with chronical diseases, patients with psychosocial degradation who are dependence on drugs.
