Research

Main interest

• structure, function and pathology of the male sex organs relevant I to the diagnosis and treatment of infertility

Current research projects

• the influence of lead on the testes, epididymis and sperm cells
• experimental hyperprolactinemia and its influence on spermatogenesis and maturation of sperm cells in the epididymis
• functional regulation of peritoneal macrophages and studies on phagocytosis of sperm cell by these macrophages
• studies on blood vessels and factors that could be useful in the prevention of atherosclerosis

Research methods used

• histology, electron microscopy (transmission and scanning), X-ray image analysis, cell culture

Future research plans

• studies on the influence of contrast media used in hysterosalpingography and some drugs (danazol, nifedipine, acetylosalicylic acid) on peritoneal macrophages and phagocytosis of sperm cells
• studies on secretory processes in epididymal epithelial cells (in vivo and in vitro)
