It is a great honour for me to write an Introduction on the occasion of the XII National Fluoride Symposium to be held in October, 2006 at Biochemistry Department, Szczecin, Poland.

At this juncture, I would like to extend my heartiest congratulations to Professor Zygmunt Machoy and his very active and dedicated coworkers who over the years have produced some excellent data on fluoride effects in animals and humans. They have been also successful in arranging National level symposia regularly. Some of their findings have far reaching consequences and will help to solve some of the problems regarding fluoride toxicity which are hitherto unknown.

I wish to send my greetings to the organizers and all the participants to make the symposium a grand success.
