Day 1

1. Morning meeting and ward round.
2. Small routine procedures at the bed side.
3. Spontaneus Pneumothorax
• Etiology
• Clinical symptoms
• Conservative treatment
• Surgical treatment:
Drainage
Surgery.
4. Chest trauma
• Traumatic pneumothorax
• Tension pneumothorax
• Intrapleural bleeding
• Lung parenchyma bleeding
• Conservative treatment (intercostal nerves blockade, rest, dressing)
• Flail chest
Conservative treatment (anti-paradoxal dressing, internal support, chest wall traction)
Surgery: our own method of metallic stabilization
• Single rib fracture
• Subcutaneous emphysema and pneumomediastinum
• Wounds of pericardial sac, heart, great vessels, oesophagus
• Bronchial rupture
• Contusion of lung, mediastinum and its organs
• Chest concussion.
5. Assisting to the thoracic operation.

Day 2

1. Diagnostics in thoracic surgery:
• Rigid bronchoscopy
• Bronchofiberoscopy, EBUS
• Chest X-ray, Computed tomography, fluoroscopy
• Vascular imaging, spirometry, ecg
• Fine Needle Aspiration Biopsy (FNAB)
• Cytology.
2. Coin lesion.
3. Neoplasms of the lung, bronchi and pleura.
4. Lung cancer: ethiology, clinical symptoms, treatment, complications, prophylaxis.
5. Surgical assistance to the thoracic operation.

Day 3

1. Mediastinal tumors.
2. Suppurative state of the thorax:
• Pleural empyema, ethiology, clinical symptoms, operative and conservative treatment
• Bronchiectases
• Lung sequestration (intra- and extralobar)
• Lung abscess
• Mediastinal and chest wall empyema.
3. Lung and pleural tuberculosis/mycosis:
• Indication for surgical treatment.
4. Thoracic consultations, thoracic/pathologic joint meeting.
5. Surgical assistance to the thoracic operation. 37364
