Rights and obligations of V-th year students during the course of hematology

Tuition will be conducted by doctors:

  • Lek. Izabela Kurek-Jankowska

 

  1. Seminars are held every day in the seminar room IV-th floor.
  2. Students are obliged to be prepared for every seminar according to the plan posted on this board.
  3. The necessary review before the hematology course:
  4. ·          Blood – definition, components (especially cellular)

    ·          Bone marrow – definition, histology, cytoarchitecture, hemopoesis

    ·          Erythrocyte (RBC) – pathway of maturation (erytropoesis) – stages

    ·          Granulocyte (GRA) - pathway of maturation (granulopoesia)

    ·          Trombopoesis (production of platelets - PLT)

    ·          Lymphopoesis – maturation and differentiation of lymphocytes (LYM). Cytoarchitecture and physiology of the lymph node

    ·          Normal range of values –

    1.     Peripheral blood morphology (pre mm)

    2.     Peripheral blood smear – leukogram (%)

    ·          The clotting systems, factors, clotting physiology

             Definitions: terms associated with changes in cell proliferation,  dysplasia, metaplasia, neoplasia, aplasia, hypoplasia
  5. Exercises at the patient’s bed are held in the Clinic of Hematology
  6. Students are obliged to change their clothes (white coat, shoes) before seminars begin, and to bring their own stethoscopes
  7. Attendance at the seminars and exercises at the patient’s bed is obligatory.
  8. Students who have been absent must (within 14 days) present a document justifying their absence signed either by a doctor, or by the dean.
  9. If the student has justifying his/her absence, he/she will be allowed to work up the day they have missed – best with the next group of students.
  10. If the work up of missed days is not possible with the next group – the next date will be announced by the clinic.
  11. If a student missed more than 3 days from this 7-day course of hematology she/he must attend the whole course again with another group.
  12. If a student has been absent and did not bring a justifying document within 2 weeks she/he will be obliged to work up a double amount of hours according to the plan established by the Clinic.
  13. In order to obtain a signature in the student book, the student must be present on all days, participate actively in the seminars and exercises, and obtain 60% of the total score on the test written on the last day of the course.
  14. A student who fails the test has possibility to obtain a positive result in another test written in the presence of the tutor. If the students fails this, the third possibility is determined by the head of the Clinic of Hematology
