SCIENTIFIC RESEARCH

  1. Pharmacogenetics evaluations of the use of old and new psychotropic medications, with the assessment of their therapeutic efficacy, side effects (safety of treatment) and costs.
  2. Genetic studies on patients with alcohol dependence and their families. (cooperation with the Department of Clinical Neurobiology at the Freie Universität – Berlin).
  3. Genetic and psychometric studies on patients with personality disorders, depression, schizophrenia and anxiety disorders and on healthy populations.
  4. Research of the pharmacotherapy rationalization of endogenous depression and paranoid schizophrenia, based on the genetic and pharmacokinetic conditions.
  5. Research of the new tymoleptics, neuroleptics and medications against “alcohol craving” in clinical trials.
  6. Research on hormonal and peptides secretion in eating disorders.

Subjects of present scientific research:

  1. Clinical evaluation of new psychotropic drugs.
  2. Investigations on dopaminergic, serotonergic, gabaergic, glutaminergic, cannabinergic neurotranssmission in alcoholism, anxiety disorders, personality disorders, eating disorders, schizophrenia.
  3. Investigations on rehabilitation of cognition functions in neurological diseases and psychose

Some techniques used in the research:

  1. Standardized patients and their families health stories.
  2. Rehacom
  3. PCR (Polimerase Chain Reaction).
  4. Personality tests MMPI, Cattel, TCI (Cloninger’s Temperament and Character Inventory).
  5. Radioimmunological estimation of hormon levels in blood serum.

Future research plans:

  1. Recruitment of alcoholic patients and their families for genetical studies.
  2. Further research on cluster analysis.
  3. Biomolecular research of neuroleptics and antidepressants in treatment of schizofrenia and major depression.
  4. Recruitment of patient with psychostimulants dependence and their families for genetical and psychometric studies.
  5. Research on patients with anxiety disorders.
