Summer semester: exercises 15 x 2 hours

 

1.      Identification of environmental and genetic factors influencing diseases on the examples of allergic diseases: epidemiology of allergic diseases in Poland, oral symptoms, allergic march, hygienic hypothesis, anaphylactic shock-treatment.

• Evaluation of dust mites allergen exposition with the use of ACAREX tests.
• Evaluation of chosen gene polymorphisms in atopic diseases.

 

2.      Occupational hygiene in dental ambulatory:

• Measurements and ergonomics of working place.

• Measurements, evaluation and minimizing expositions to powder contaminations.

3.      Nutrition and oral diseases: rules of proper nutrition, food pyramid, imbalances in food nutritients

• Basic evaluation of nutrition

• Quality evaluation of different types of diets

4.      Community hygiene: quality of drinking water, hygiene normatives, fluorosis-definition and symptoms.

• Egzogenous fluorosis

• The use of ion –selective electrode in measuring fluorides in water.

5.      School hygiene: antropometric measurements, evaluation of child development, the use of charts

• Measuring height, weight folds etc. with the use of proper devices.

• Radiological teeth evaluation

6.      School environment hygiene: air quality evaluation, Pettenkofer index, ventilation, noise consequences, evaluation of total school work burden.

• Measuring chosen environmental factors; noise, microclimate

• Oral health indexes-measuring in classes, analysis and results evaluation.

7.      Prevention of ambulatory infections: rules of surface and equipment disinfection,  medical waste decomposition.

• Proper disinfectants choice.

• Hygienic hand washing.

8.      Environmental toxicology: chosen topic of the matter, health results of exposition to heavy metals incl. lead and arsenic.

• Reference dose calculation for chosen toxic substances.

9.      Cultural, social and economic conditions of health status: the use of CPITN.

• Calculating and interpretation of CPITN.

10.  Results of smoking: methods of prevention of smoking related diseases.

• Epidemiology of smoking-use of questionnaires

11.  Alcohol abuse in Poland: epidemiology, alcohol during pregnancy (FAS).

• The making of questionnaire-the use of alcohol among pregnant women.

12.  Drugs and other stimulants: scale of drug use among students.
